Project description
Three different floors became one timber walk from the front door to the garden room.
The hall was tile, the living room was a floating board that clicked, and the stair was carpet over unknown timber. We tested moisture, levelled the worst of the hall, and ran one board direction toward the light.
The stair was the part most people postpone. Nosing and a simple grip were detailed with the same oak so the walk does not change personality at the first step. Furniture was moved by the household; we protected what had to stay.
The finish was left to cure before rugs went down. That patience is written into the programme, because a rug too soon is how a good floor clouds.
“The house sounds different in a good way. The hall and the living room finally feel like one place.”
